Description

This female head renders a face with youthful features. The head comes from a statue of Roman creation. The head is represented frontally. Her long, wavy hair is bound in a taenia (ribbon) that is wrapped around her head, and pulled at the back of her neck. She has lidded almond shaped eyes, high forehead, a strong chin and a fleshy-lipped mouth. Her hair, styled in long locks which separate in the middle forms a halo around her oval face. The back is only roughly carved, suggesting that the principal viewpoint was from the front.
